Notre dame de Paris: dal 9 all’11 ottobre in scena al ChorusLife Arena di Bergamo
The Italian tour continues in preparation for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the world’s most famous popular opera.
Bergamo, October 2, 2026 – The dates of Notre Dame de Paris, the most famous popular opera in the world and one of the most impressive shows ever staged, continue, with more than 500,000 tickets sold and a tour of over 200 performances.
The twenty-fifth anniversary
The audience’s connection to this opera never ceases to amaze. In 2027, Notre Dame de Paris will celebrate its twenty-fifth anniversary, having premiered in Italy for the first time in 2002, a milestone marking a quarter century of emotion, music, and poetry.
Music by Riccardo Cocciante
Riccardo Cocciante, the composer of the show’s music, is at the heart of this incredible project, which features Pasquale Panella’s masterful Italian adaptation of Luc Plamondon’s text from Victor Hugo’s novel of the same name, which tells the dramatic love story between Esmeralda and Quasimodo, set against the backdrop of Paris’s majestic Notre-Dame Cathedral.
One of the longest-lived works of Italian culture
Since its first performance, Notre Dame de Paris has captivated Italian audiences, becoming a popular phenomenon and one of the longest-running operas in Italian culture, reaching 4.5 million viewers . Its strength lies in its universal themes: the story focuses on marginalization, the fear of others, and the burden of prejudice, reminding us that diversity is a resource, not a threat.
The fragility and contradictions of human beings
What makes the show so timely is its ability to capture the fragility and contradictions of humankind: the search for a place in the world, the need for justice, the longing for love. These elements, decades later, continue to confirm this modern folk opera as a classic capable of transcending generations and borders.
Music and dance
The dance, which blends classical ballet and breakdance, and the music, which includes songs that have become hits independently of the show, also contribute to making the opera timeless . This combination creates a form of contemporary popular opera, combining the European tradition of musical drama with modern concert techniques and large-scale live productions.
The opera’s 2002 debut
The Italian version debuted in 2002, produced by David Zard, a key figure in live performance in Italy. Recognizing the lack of suitable theaters for such an innovative production, he commissioned the GranTeatro in Rome, a courageous decision that marked a historic turning point. Considered a true cult musical theater, Notre Dame de Paris has outperformed many major rock and pop concerts, has been translated into nine languages, and has been performed in 24 countries, with over 5,650 performances and 18 million spectators worldwide. Over the course of twenty years, it has toured Italy in 49 cities, with 181 performances and 1,548 performances, in addition to the over 200 performances of the current tour.
